Men's Soccer Picks Up First UAA Win of the Season With Victory Over NYU

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Washington University in St. Louis men's soccer team picked up its first UAA win of the season with a 2-0 victory over NYU on Saturday afternoon at Francis Olympic Field. WashU is now 7-4-1 on the year with a 1-2 mark in UAA play.
 
The Bears broke through early, in the 16th minute, as junior Zach Susee scored his team-leading seventh goal of the year to make it a 1-0 game.
 
It looked like it may end a 1-0 game, but sophomore Carter Sasser added another goal in the 81st minute. After two blocked shots, Sasser put it away to give the Bears a 2-0 lead.
 
Sophomore Ethan Wirtschafter recorded four shots with three on goal while Sasser and graduate student Jesus Tadeo had three shots with two on goal.
 
Sophomore goalkeeper Cal L'Hommedieu made one save for his first shutout of the season.
 
The Bears are back home next weekend, starting with Carnegie Mellon at 6 p.m. on Friday evening, which will be the Latine Heritage Month game. On Sunday, the Bears will honor their seniors prior to taking on Case Western Reserve University at 1:30 p.m.
