TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - The No. 22 Washington University in St. Louis men's track and field team traveled to Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology to compete in RHIT's Friday Night Spikes Series #3, Friday, January 26. Out of 16 scored events, WashU won six. The Bears won the meet with 166 points.
The Bears competed alongside RHIT, St. Mary-of-the-Woods, Belhaven University, Hanover College, Franklin College, and Earlham College.
Friday's Top Finishers:
60 Meters:
- Alex Gardner registered a third-place finish in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.07
200 Meters:
- George Bourdier (22.64) was WashU's top finisher in the 200-meter race with a fourth-place finish
- Elvin Binagi turned in a time of 23.23, good for fifth
400 Meters:
- Grant Lane, WashU's lone participant in the 400-meter, notched 10th with a time of 53.33
800 Meters:
Mile:
3,000 Meters:
- WashU claimed the top five marks in the 3,000-meter run
- Conor Daly welcomed the victory with a time of 8:35.64
- Kyle Puckett took second as he crossed the finish line with a mark of 8:35.88
- Matthew Hornung turned in a time of 8:43.66, good for third
- Jesse Sanchez (8:47.98) and Alexander Evans (8:49.87) secured fourth and fifth, respectively
5,000 Meters:
- Alexander Gadin, WashU's lone athlete in the event, finished the race with a time of 15:38.53, good for fourth
60 Meter Hurdles:
- WashU saw a pair of athletes in the 60-meter hurdles finals
- Lawrence Lokonobei won the event with a time of 8.47
- Loucas Xenakis secured a mark of 8.95 to earn sixth
4 x 400 Relay:
High Jump:
- Jalen Dural secured a second-place finish in the high jump with a distance of 1.82m
Triple Jump:
- Solomon Kang (12.45m) earned another third-place finish, this time in the triple jump event
Shot Put:
- Seif Elkhashab was WashU's top finisher in the shot put event with a heave of 13.26m, good for fifth
