BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Washington University in St. Louis men's track and field program made the trip to Bloomington, Ill. to compete Illinois Wesleyan University's annual I-55 Tri, Saturday, January 20. As a team, the Bears took second in the tri, with IWU edging WashU by two and a half points. Out of 15 scored events, WashU won seven.
WashU competed alongside host, IWU, and Elmhurst University.
Saturday's Top Finishers:
60 Meters:
200 Meters:
- The Bears earned the top three marks in the 200-meter event
- George Bourdier won the event with a time of 22.79
- Gardner took runner-up (23.02), while Elvin Binagi grabbed third (23.10)
400 Meters:
800 Meters:
- WashU registered second and third in the 800-meter race
- Brandon Brazil earned runner-up (2:00.20)
- Will Elder hauled in third with a mark of 2:01.73
Mile:
3,000 Meters:
- Much like the mile, WashU took the top 10 spots in the 3,000-meter run
- Evans earned the victory as he crossed the finish line with a time of 8:49.37
- Will Liu generated runner-up (8:51.49), while Puckett took third (8:51.78)
- Sanchez (8:53.84), Hornung (8:57.31), and Fernando Ribeiro Duraes (8:59.48), secured fourth, fifth, and sixth, respectively
- Alexander Bullard (9:04.14), Alexander Gadin (9:06.46), Benson (9:16.46) rounded out the top-10 marks for WashU
60 Meter Hurdles:
- Lokonobei won the 60-meter hurdles with a winning time of 8.37
- Loucas Xenakis grabbed third (9.17)
4 x 400 Relay:
- The team of Gardner, Djetto, Frohling, and Cox took runner-up in the 4 x 400-meter relay
- The group earned a time of 3:27.37
High Jump:
- Jalen Dural spun a fourth-place jump with a distance of 1.80m
Pole Vault:
Long Jump:
- Solomon Kang topped the long jump field with a jump of 6.57m
- Carson Page registered a third-place finish with a mark of 6.26m
Triple Jump:
- Dural was the top finisher for the Bears
- Dural took fourth in the event with a mark of 12.63m
- Matt Joachim grabbed sixth (12.45m)
1,200 Meters:
- William Houser won the 1,200-meter event with a time of 3:06.17
- Houser won the event by more than three seconds
- James Corbett secured third (3:09.29), while Jackson Cox hauled in fourth (3:11.27)
