Box Score Madison, Wis. – The No. 19 Washington University in St. Louis women's tennis team fell to No. 1 Chicago 6-3 in the Midwest Invite championship match.
The Bears picked up a win at third doubles as
Hallie Jeffers and
Carolyn Tsung beat Miranda Yuan and Brooke Pedersen 8-7 (10-8).
Katherine Johnston and
Amber Edmonds fell to Sylwia Mikos and Shianna Guo 8-2 at first doubles while
Nina Moravek and
Ainsley Heidbreder lost to Claudia Ng and Perene Wang 8-1 at second doubles.
Edmonds notched a win over Yuan, 6-3, 2-6, 10-4 at fourth singles and Tsung defeated Brianna Liu 6-1, 6-1 at sixth singles.
Karen Gao fell to Mikos 7-5, 6-4 at first singles and Moravek lost to Guo 6-4, 3-6, 10-8 at second singles. Johnstone was topped by Pedersen 6-1, 6-0 at third singles and
Sophia Huynh lost to Ng 61, 4-6, 10-1 at fifth singles.
The Bears are back home next weekend, starting with a match against Trinity at 2 p.m. on Friday.
