St. Louis, Mo. – The Washington University in St. Louis baseball team lost to Webster 1-0 in nonconference action on Wednesday afternoon to close out the home slate of the regular-season. The Bears are now 25-13 on the season heading into the final regular-season double-header at Dubuque on Sunday afternoon.
Webster scored in the top of the eighth inning to take a 1-0 lead. Mitch Daniels reached base on a throwing error and moved up on a Matt Staker ground out. Evan Evola doubled to right center, scoring Daniels to give the Gorloks the lead.
In the bottom of the seventh inning after drawing a lead-off walk,
Kaden Bernhard stole second, tying the program record of 120 team stolen bases in a season. The record was previous set in 2011.
Brandon Buday and
Hunter Goldberg each finished 2-for-3 at the plate while
Magnus Dunn was 1-for-3 and
Clayton Miller went 1-for-4.
The Bears travel to Dubuque for a double-header beginning at 12 p.m. on Sunday.
