Atlanta, Ga. – The Washington University in St. Louis baseball team fell to Emory 8-0 on Sunday afternoon. The Bears are now 25-12 and wrap up the UAA slate at 9-7.
Emory scored four runs in the bottom of the second inning. Tyler McLoughlin hit a one-out single through the left side and Walker Woolf singled through the right side. Josh Katz singled to right field to load the bases and Brok Liu reached base on a throwing error, scoring McLoughlin and Woolf. Liu stole second and Ellis Schwartz singled to right to score Katz. Schwartz advanced to third on a throwing error and Liu scored to make it a 4-0 game.
The Eagles scored another in the bottom of the sixth inning. McLoughlin drew a lead-off walk and advanced to second on a passed ball. Katz hit a two-out single up the middle and McLoughlin scored.
Emory scored the final three runs in the bottom of the eighth inning. McLoughlin led off with a homer to left. Steven Hunt drew a walk and advanced on a Zach Wasserlauf grounder. Katz singled to right field and Liu singled to short, scoring Hunt. Schwartz drew a walk to load the bases and Andrew Shlomm reached first on a fielding error, scoring Katz.
Shane Pellegrino finished 2-for-4 while
Braden Mazone,
Clayton Miller and
Chris Jacinto each went 1-for-4.
Miles Quemuel-Labrador took the loss on the mound, pitching four innings with five hits, four runs, one walk and two strikeouts.
The Bears hosted Webster in a single game on Wednesday at 3 p.m.
