St. Louis, Mo. – The No. 19 Washington University in St. Louis women's tennis team fell to No. 14 Trinity 5-4 on Friday morning. The Bears are now 10-8 on the year.
The Bears lone win in doubles action was at third doubles. The team of
Nina Moravek and
Ainsley Heidbreder topped Brooke Belitz and Ellie Hughes 8-5.
Karen Gao and
Eliana Hannah lost to Ruth Hill and Olivia Kim 8-6 at first doubles while
Amber Edmonds and
Katherine Johnston fell to Cate Cushing and Trinity Levy 8-4 at second doubles.
Hanna notched a win over Kim at second singles, 6-2, 6-2 while Edmonds defeated Hughes 6-1, 6-1 at fifth singles.
Sophia Huynh beat Ella Cummings 6-4, 6-2 at sixth singles.
Gao was topped by Hill 7-6, 6-4 at first singles and Moravek fell to Levy 6-3, 6-3 at third singles. Johnston lost to Cushing 7-5, 6-4 at fourth singles.
The Bears host Webster tomorrow at 10 a.m. Prior to the match, WashU will honor seniors Huynh and
Anke Patel.
