Box Score 2 Lake Nona, Fla. – The No. 2 Washington University in St. Louis men's tennis team split its matches on Thursday, defeating Kenyon 7-2 before falling to NAIA No. 1 Keiser 7-0.
Match 1: WashU 7, Kenyon 2
The Bears won two of three doubles matches to take a 2-1 lead.
Abhi Ramireddy and
Phuc Huynh defeated Luis Andres Platas and Eric Zhang 8-3 at first doubles while Guarav Singh and
Scott Yamamoto beat Eliezer Gonzalez and Paulo Pocasangre 8-5 at second doubles.
Pato Garcia Muriel and
Colin Scruggs fell to Thomas Kallarakal and Rishil Kondapaneni 8-7 (9-0) at third doubles.
Huynh went on to win first singles, defeated Kallarakal 6-3, 6-3 while Ramireddy defeated Kondapanenei 7-5, 7-5(2-0) at second singles.
Jared Phillips beat Platas 4-6, 6-2, 6-2 at third singles and
Eric Kuo topped Zhang 6-2, 62 at fifth singles.
James Shaheen defeated Rakkan Audeh 6-2, 2-6, 6-2 at sixth singles.
Singh lost to Pocasangre 6-4, 6-4 at fourth singles.
Match 2: Keiser 7, WashU 0
Ramireddy and Huynh lost to Heber Santos and Gaston Contero 6-4 at first doubles while
Lucas Guy and
Henri Ohl fell to Yassir Kilani and Soufiane El Mesbahi 6-4 at second doubles. Kuo and
Matias Maule lost to Shaheed Alam and Martin Carrizo 7-6(5) at third doubles.
Huynh was defeated by Alam 6-3, 6-1 at first singles while Scruggs fell to Santos 6-3, 7-5 at second singles.
Case Fagan lost to Cantero 6-3, 6-1 at third singles and Ohl fell to Kilani 7-5, 6-2 at fourth singles.
Guy was defeated by Carrizo 6-1, 6-1 at fifth singles and
Jeremy Ouyang fell to El Mesbahi 6-1, 6-1 at sixth singles.
WashU wraps up its spring break trip to Florida tomorrow with a pair of matches against Wesleyan and St. Thomas Aquinas.
