Claremont, Calif. – The No. 17 Washington University in St. Louis women's tennis team fell to No. 35 Babson 5-4 on Thursday. The Bears are now 6-4 on the season with one spring break match remaining.
The Bears trailed 2-1 following doubles, getting an 8-1 win from
Ainsley Heidbreder and
Nina Moravek over Adele Fernandez and Kamila Stasiowska at third doubles.
Eliana Hanna and
Amber Edmonds fell to Olivia Soffer and Matia Cristiani 8-1 at first doubles while
Katherine Johnston and
Hallie Jeffers lost to Juliette Moschella and Elena Keitt 8-5 at second doubles.
The Bears won three of the six singles matches.
Johnston defeated Moschelle 6-3, 6-4 at fourth singles and Edmonds topped Keitt 7-5, 5-7(5), 10-6 at fifth singles.
Carolyn Tsung beat Mariana Campos 6-3, 4-6, 10-6 at sixth singles.
Hanna fell to Soffer 6-3, 6-1 at first singles. Moravek lost to Cristiani 6-1, 6-4 at second singles and
Sophia Huynh fell to Stasiowska 6-3, 6-1 at third singles.
The Bears wrap up their spring break trip tomorrow with a 10 a.m. PT match against Amherst.
