Box Score 2 Lake Nona, Fla. – The No. 2 Washington University in St. Louis men's tennis team split its matches on Wednesday, defeating Stevens before falling to Division I Stetson.
Match 1: WashU 7, Stevens 2
The Bears started with a sweep of doubles.
Abhi Ramireddy and
Phuc Huynh defeated Aashi Kulakarni and Vivek Harinarayan 8-2 at first doubles.
Pato Garcia Muriel and
Colin Scruggs topped Olof Persson and Max-William Kanz 8-5 at second doubles while
Henri Ohl and
Lucas Guy defeated Sebastian Wroe and Andrew He 8-5 at third doubles.
Huynh picked up a win over Harinarayan 7-6 (6), 6-4 at first singles while
Jared Phillips defeated Kulakarni 6-2, 6-1 at second singles.
Eric Kuo beat He 6-0, 6-0 at third singles and
James Shaheen topped Timothy Lau 6-1, 6-1 at fifth singles.
Garcia Muriel fell to Kanz 6-3, 1-6, 10-7 at fourth singles and Ohl lost to Matt Luzzi 6-4, 6-2 at sixth singles.
Match 2: Stetson 4, WashU 1
The Bears won the doubles point, notching wins at first and second doubles.
Ramireddy and Huynh defeated Marc Saura and Lucas Olivier 6-4 at first doubles while
Gaurav Singh and
Scott Yamamoto topped Ervin Haris Eminefendic and Juan Jose Rodriguez 6-4. The match at third doubles remained unfinished.
Saura defeated Ramireddy 6-4, 6-4 at first singles while Singh lost to Eminefendic 6-3, 6-1 at second singles. Garcia Muriel fell to Sami Ozzor 6-2, 6-2 at fourth singles and Yamamoto lost to Alexandre Hillhouse 6-3, 7-6(3). The matches at third and sixth singles remained unfinished.
The Bears take on Kenyon tomorrow morning at 9 a.m. ET before facing Keiser at 2 p.m. ET.
