Women's Tennis Routs Lindenwood in Spring Opener

Box Score Chesterfield, Mo. – The No. 18 Washington University in St. Louis women's tennis team opened its spring slate with a 9-0 victory over Lindenwood on Saturday afternoon at Forest Lake Tennis Club.
 
Junior Karen Gao and first-year Eliana Hanna defeated Lindenwood's Juliana Kulczynski and Elisa Dornelles 8-1 at first doubles. Sophomore Ainsley Heidbreder and first-year Nina Moravek topped Alina Jensterle and Nawal Cheema 8-3 at second doubles and junior Katherine Johnston and first-year Hallie Jeffers beat Eveline Nilsson and Jordan Le 8-2 at third doubles.
 
Gao took down Jensterle 7-6(3), 6-2 at first singles while Hanna defeated Dornelles 6-2, 6-1 at second singles.
 
Senior Sophia Huynh defeated Kulczynski 6-1, 6-1 at third singles while sophomore Carolyn Tsung topped Cheema 7-6(5), 6-3 at fourth singles.
 
Moravek beat Nilsson 6-0, 6-0 at fourth singles and first-year Amber Edmonds defeated Le 6-0, 6-2 at sixth singles.
 
The Bears are back in action next Saturday, February 11 against Southwest Baptist. The match will be held at Woodsmill Tennis Club at 6 p.m.
