Box Score St. Peter, Minn. – The No. 7 Washington University in St. Louis men's tennis team fell to No. 2 Case Western Reserve University 5-1 in the ITA Indoor National Championship match on Sunday afternoon.
Gaurav Singh and
Scott Yamamoto defeated Christian Provenzano and Sahil Dayal 8-5 at second doubles, giving the Bears their lone win of the match.
Abhi Ramireddy and
Phuc Huynh fell to Vishwa Aduru and James Hopper 8-4 at first doubles while
Pato Garcia Muriel and
Colin Scruggs lost to Diego Maza and Micahel Sutanto 8-6 at third doubles.
Ramireddy lost to Hopper 6-3, 6-3 at first singles and Garcia Muriel fell to Ansh Shah 6-1, 63 at fourth singles. Scruggs lost to Casey Hishinuma 7-5, 6-3 at sixth singles.
Matches at second, third and fifth singles remained unfinished as CWRU secured the match.
The Bears are back in action next weekend with a pair of home matches. On Saturday, they will face UW-Whitewater at 1 p.m. followed by a 10 a.m. match against DePauw on Sunday.
