Baseball Drops Road Game at Hendrix

Box Score 1 Conway, Ark. – The Washington University in St. Louis baseball team lost to (RV) Hendrix 3-1 on Sunday afternoon. The Bears began a second game as well, which was ruled a no contest due to weather midway through the fourth inning.
 
Hendrix scored first in the bottom of the first inning, starting with an Adam Bland double to left field. He then stole third and scored on a David Ripple ground out to second.
 
The Warriors added another run in the bottom of the second inning. Drake Job led off with a single to left. With two outs, he stole second and then scored on an Austin Rabago single to center field.
 
After leaving two runners on base in the top of the fourth inning, the Bears put up their lone run in the top of the fourth inning. Braden Mazon doubled to left to lead off the inning and scored on a Kaden Bernhard single to right field, making it a 2-1 game.
 
Hendrix scored its final run of the game in the bottom of the fourth inning. Job doubled to left field and advanced to third on a balk. Joseph Watts singled through the right side, scoring Job.
 
Bernhard finished 2-for-4 on the day with one RBI.
 
Matt Lopes took the loss on the mound, pitching five innings and allowing seven hits and three earned runs.
 
The Bears are back in action at home next weekend in a four-game series against Illinois Wesleyan. WashU will open its newly-renovated Kelly Field on Saturday with a special first pitch.
