Box Score Terre Haute, Ind. – The No. 18 Washington University in St. Louis women's tennis team defeated No. 21 Washington and Lee University 6-3 on Friday afternoon. The Bears are now 3-0 on the season.
WashU swept doubles to go up 3-0 to begin the match.
Eliana Hanna and
Amber Edmonds defeated Lauren Long and Margaret Carlton 8-7 (10-8) at first doubles while
Katherine Johnston and
Hallie Jeffers topped Izzy Koziol and Riho Iijima 8-1 at second doubles.
Nina Moravek and
Ainsley Heidbreder beat Becket Waters and Gabi Moss 8-3 at third doubles.
Hanna also beat Long at first singles, taking it 6-3, 6-2. Johnston defeated Koziol 6-1, 6-3 at third singles while Edmonds topped Waters 6-3, 6-4 at fourth singles.
Sophia Huynh won the first set 6-4 at second singles before falling to Gabi Moss 7-5, 10-5.
Carolyn Tsung fell to Grace Lorenz 6-3, 6-2 at fifth singles while
Hallie Jeffers lost to Carlton 3-6, 7-6(5), 14-12 at sixth singles.
The Bears have two matches tomorrow, starting with a 1 p.m. ET match against Denison followed by a 5:30 p.m. ET match against Gustavus Adolphus.
