Box Score St. Louis, Mo. – The No. 7 Washington University in St. Louis men's tennis team defeated Division II Southwest Baptist 6-3 on Sunday afternoon at Dwight Davis Tennis Center.
 
The Bears picked up two wins in doubles to go up 2-1 in the match.
 
Senior Abhi Ramireddy and graduate Phuc Huynh defeated SBU's Makary Adamek and Marcio Silva 8-4 at first doubles while junior Gaurav Singh and sophomore Scott Yamamoto beat Youssef Nabil and Alvaro Nunez 8-3 at second doubles.
 
Junior Jared Phillips and junior Jeremy Ouyang fell to Mikar Fisher and Ilyes Khelifi 8-7(5) at third doubles.
 
Ramireddy picked up a win over Adamek 6-2, 6-2 at first singles while Singh defeated Silvio 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 at third singles. First-year Colin Scruggs topped Fisher 6-4, 6-1 at fifth singles and first-year Eric Kuo beat Fabian Neff 6-2, 6-2 at sixth singles.
 
Phillips fell to Nabil 4-6, 6-4, 10-5 at second singles and Pato Garcia Muriel lost to Nunez 7-6(5), 6-4 at fourth singles.
 
The Bears head to St. Peter, Minn. on Feb. 24 for the ITA Indoor Championships which showcases the top eight men's Division III teams in a three-day tournament. Fourth-seed WashU will take on fifth-seed North Carolina Wesleyan in the opening round.
