Brooklyn, N.Y. – The No. 16 Washington University in St. Louis men's basketball team fell to NYU, 65-52, on Sunday afternoon on the road. The loss puts the Bears at a 17-5 overall record with an 8-3 mark in the conference and knocks them out of sole possession of first place in the UAA.
The Violets held on to a lead for much of the first half, going up as many as six points with 11:23 on the clock, 14-8. From there, WashU went on a 6-0 run behind five points from junior
Jabari Chiphe to pull even at 14 apiece with 8:54 remaining.
In the final 4:49 on the first half, NYU went on an 8-0 run to take a 31-21 advantage over the Bears. WashU cut it down to eight points with 22 seconds on the clock but a 3-pointer from NYU's Nikola Lipovic with three seconds on the clock send WashU into halftime trailing 36-25.
The Violets opened the second half on a 7-0 run, going up 43-25 less than three minutes in. A layup from sophomore

Nate Bloedorn cut the gap to 12 points, 49-37 midway through the half.
NYU continued to hold steady against WashU, not allowing the Bears to get closer than 13 points for the remainder of the game.
Graduate
Charlie Jacob at 13 points with five rebounds while Kindsvater scored 12 points to go with seven boards and two assists.
NYU had four reach double figures, led by 16 points apiece from Spencer Freedman and Michael Savarino.
The Bears shot just 15-for-44 (34.1%) on the day and 4-for-17 (23.5%) from 3-point range.
WashU returns home next weekend with a Friday evening game against Case Western Reserve University and a Sunday matchup (senior day) against Carnegie Mellon University.
