St. Louis, Mo. – The No. 22 Washington University in St. Louis men's basketball team won the 39
th Annual Lopata Classic on Saturday evening with a 77-62 win over Hanover College. It is the 27th time the Bears have won the tournament and they are now 4-0 on the season.

Yogi Oliff put the first points of the game on the board with a layup off a
Drake Kindsvater assist.
After a layup from junior
Hayden Doyle put the Bears up 4-2 just over three minutes in, a 3-pointer from Ty Houston put Hanover up 5-4.
The Bears answered with a 7-0 run, starting with a layup from first year

Kyle Beedon drilled a shot from distance and Kindsvater closed out the run with a layup to put WashU up 11-5 with 14:10 on the clock.
The Panthers closed it to a two-point lead with a pair of free throws and a layup but WashU responded with a 6-0 run behind a 3-pointer from first-year

WashU took its first double-digit lead of the game thanks to five points from first-year
Ryan Cohen, putting the Bears up 22-11 with 7:57 remaining in the first half. WashU scored four more points on layups from Oliff and Kindsvater to make it a 26-11 game with just over seven minutes remaining.
With 4:34 on the clock, Beedon netted a shot from distance and Grudzinski followed with a layup to put WashU ahead 32-16.
Kapral hit the final shot of the second half, sending WashU into halftime with a 38-24 lead.
Hanover opened the second half with a 3-pointer from Houston followed by a layup from Matt Munoz to bring the gap back to single-digits, 38-29.
Kapral put in back-to-back buckets and Doyle hit a step-back jumper for a 44-32 lead with 16:06 on the clock.
With 14:10 on the clock, Hanover's Michael Donoho hit a 3-pointer and Avery Saunders followed with a layup to cut WashU's lead to 46-40.
Cohen drilled a 3-pointer at the 12:19 mark to put WashU up 49-40 but Hanover's Max Greenamoyer answered with a 3-pointer and Cam Freeman followed with a layup to make it a four-point, 49-45 game midway through the half.
A jumper from Munoz kept the gap at four points but the Bears scored 10--straight on a layup from Kindsvater followed by a jumper from Kapral. Oliff then stole the ball and sent it up to Kindsvater who was fouled and hit both free throws.
Kindsvater was fouled again on the next possession and hit both free throws to make it a 59-47 game for the Bears. After getting a defensive rebound, Doyle went down to hit a jumper and extend the Bears' lead to 61-47.
Buckets from Doyle and Kapral extended the lead to 65-49 with 5:34 on the clock. A 3-pointer from Saunders and two baskets from Freeman brought it to a nine-point game, 65-56 with 4:27 remaining but the Bears brought it back to double-digits with a layup from Kindsvater.
A turn around jumper from Houston made it a nine-point game again, 67-58 but the Bears hit five-straight buckets to make it a 77-58 game with just under a minute remaining.
Kindsvater led the Bears with 17 points to go with eight rebounds while Doyle netted 14 and Kapral had 13 points.
The Bears are back home on Wednesday afternoon with a 3 p.m. game against Illinois Wesleyan.
