St. Louis, Mo. – The No. 3 Washington University in St. Louis defeated No. 22 Brandeis 4-0 on Saturday to improve to 10-0 on the year with a 2-0 mark in UAA play.
Junior Gaelen Clayton scored a pair of goals in the first half to lead the Bears offensive efforts in the win.
Clayton's first goal was 13:19 in, taking a pass on a corner kick from Anna Viscovich and firing a high ball into the top of the net.
Clayton struck again at the 16:56 mark, taking a short pass from Meryl McKenna and knocking the ball into the right corner of the net. She now has a team-leading six goals on the season.
WashU continued to attack, netting the third goal of the game at the 35:55 mark. First-year Madison Foley scored her second goal of the season off a pass from Sophie Viscovich. Foley took a short dribble and fired the ball into the opposite corner for a 3-0 Bears lead.
The Bears scored their final goal of the game in the 41st minute as Sophie Viscovich took a short pass from Ella Koleno and sent a long ball into the net.
WashU registered nine shots with six on goal and earned four corner kicks.
In the net, Sidney Conner made three saves to keep Brandeis off the board for her eighth blank sheet of the year. The Bears remain the lone team across all divisions and genders to not concede a goal this season.
WashU returns to action tomorrow with a short road match at Fontbonne. Kickoff is slated for 12 p.m.
