ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Behind a career-high three-point evening, junior
Joseph Hipskind pushed the Washington University in St. Louis men's soccer team passed Webster University by a final score of 2-0 at World Wide Technology Soccer Park, Wednesday, October 4. With the victory, WashU upped its record to 4-4-1, while the Gorloks record dipped to 3-6-1.

WashU controlled the possession in the early goings. The offensive prowess led to a pair of shots in the first 11 minutes.
With constant offensive action, the Bears capitalized and secured the game-winner in the 14th minute of play. Hipskind tallied his third goal of the season and his first game-winner to give WashU an early, 1-0, advantage.
Webster's best chance of the half came off a corner kick try in the 30th minute. However, WashU's defensive was able to earn a team save to deny the equalizer.
At the intermission, the Bears were credited with 11 shots, while the Gorloks notched just three.
Taking a 1-0 lead into the second 45, WashU was looking for an insurance tally. In the 63rd minute, first-year
Colin Link belted a shot that hit the crossbar as the lead stood at one.
However, just six minutes later, the Bears got their insurance goal in the 69th minute. Hipskind set a new career-high with three points as he was credited with a helper. Hipskind produced a nifty pass to Susse and Susse was able to capitalize on his chance as he buried the shot into the back of the net. With the score, WashU padded its advantage to two.
After the goal, Webster brought in three fresh bodies to attempt a comeback.
WashU's backline stood its ground and was able to fend of the Gorloks comeback efforts. In the end, the Bears welcomed their third shutout of the year with a final score of 2-0.
The Bears will continue University Athletic Association play by hosting Brandeis University, Saturday, October 7. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. at Francis Olympic Field.
