St. Louis, Mo. – The No. 3 Washington University in St. Louis women's soccer team blanked nearby Webster, 3-0, in a Tuesday evening clash on Francis Olympic Field. The Bears are now 9-0.
The Bears remain the lone team across all divisions to have not let up a single goal this season.
After nearly 35 minutes of scoreless play, the Bears broke through with a goal at the 34:33 mark. Graduate student

WashU scored again in the 77
th minute of play, as junior
Gaelen Clayton finessed a move around the goalie and fired it into the back of the net.
Clayton had a hand in the third goal of the game less than two minutes later in the 79
th minute. A strong cross right in front of the goal from Clayton found the foot of senior
Kate Flynn who netted the goal and made it a 3-0 game for the Bears.
The Gorloks had their best chance in the 64
th minute on a high shot from Mya Stegen. Senior goalkeeper
Sidney Conner made a jumping save to punch the ball out and keep Webster off the board.
WashU controlled the offensive tempo for much of the game, registering 23 total shots with seven on goal, compared to Webster's six shots with two on goal. The Bears also recorded 10 corner kicks to Webster's six.
Conner made two saves in the net to record her seventh blank sheet of the season.
The Bears return to action on Saturday morning with an 11 a.m. match against UAA foe Brandeis.
