St. Louis, Mo. – The No. 16 Washington University in St. Louis women's swimming and diving team lost to No. 5 Chicago 202-98 on Saturday afternoon.
Swimming
The Bears opened the day with a win in the 200 medley relay as the team of
Elizabeth Chen,
Hannah Lee,
Peyton Watson and
Izzie Gattone swam to a time of 1:46.53. The team of
Kylie Juan, Riya Sahota,
Eve Kearns and
Andrea Leng took third in 1:48.77.
Junior
Nicole Caruso was the top finisher for the Bears in the 1,000 freestyle, taking third with a time of 11:05.13.
Sophomore
Ali Roche finished second in the 200 freestyle, racing to a time of 1:56.83. Junior
Isabella Barrientos finished fourth in 1:58.75.
Chen won the 100 backstroke, beating the field with a time of 58.87. Juan took third with a time of 1:00.46.
Lee was the top finisher for the Bears in the 100 breaststroke, taking second in 1:06.77, just .05 behind first place. Sahota finished third with a time of 1:08.57 while
Lili Sandor finished fourth with a time of 1:09.14.
Watson was the top finisher in the 200 butterfly, claiming second with a time of 2:10.94.
Rin Iimi took third with a time of 2:11/25 and Kearns finished fourth in 2:11.92.
Gattone finished third in the 50 freestyle, swimming to a time of 25.00. Leng took fourth in 25.03.
Sophia Gossum was the top finisher for WashU in the 100 freestyle, taking fifth in 54.71. Sahota finished sixth with a time of 55.13.
Roche claimed second in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:09.29 while Chen finished fourth in 2:10.40. Juan took fifth with a time of 2:12.33.
Sandor was the top Bears' finisher in the 200 breaststroke, taking third in 2:28.22. Lee finished fourth with a time of 2:31.16 and
Alice Mao finished fifth in 2:31.82.
Iimi took third in the 500 freestyle, swimming to a time of 5:14.84.
Watson finished second in the 100 butterfly, racing to a time of 58.48. Kearns took fifth in 59.69 and Chen finished sixth with a time of 59.79.
Iimi claimed third in the 400 IM, swimming to a time of 4:41.05 while
Natalie Klaas finished fourth in 4:45.51. Roche took fifth with a time of 4:48.73 and Sandor finished sixth in 4:49.79.
The Bears' team of Watson, Leng, Gossum and Gatton finished second in the 200 freestyle relay, racing to a time of 1:39.32.
Diving

Shanze Karimi was the top finisher on the 1-meter board, taking fifth with a score of 223.20.
Noa Miller finished sixth with a score of 213.85.

Madison Okon was the top finisher on the 3-meter board, taking third with a score of 250.75.
Rosie Finglass finished fourth with a score of 216.10.
WashU travels to Chicago next weekend for the D3 Shootout on Friday and Saturday.
