RESULTS
St. Louis, Mo. – The No. 14 Washington University in St. Louis women's swimming and diving team defeated Rhodes 224-67 on Saturday afternoon to start the 2023 portion of the schedule.
Swimming
The day started with a victory in the 200 medley relay as the team of
Andrea Leng,
Riyapreet Sahota,
Lauren Antonowich and
Noelle DiClemente swam to a first-place time of 1:50.78. The group of
Ali Roche,
Emily Guo,
Mikayla Klein and
Yasmeen Ibrahim took third in 1:51.07.
First-year
Anna Fonda won the 1,650 freestyle, racing to a time of 18:10.56. Sophomore
Kiara Crumbley took third with a time of 19:07.39.
Roche was the top Bears' finisher in the 200 freestyle, taking second in 1:58.15. Antonowich finished third with a time of 1:59.14 and
Alice Han finished fourth in 1:59.20.
Sophomore
Caroline DeLuca won the field in the 50 backstroke, racing to a time of 28.60. Sophomore
Isabella Barrientos finished second in 28.82 while senior
Grace Uldrich took fourth in 29.65.
The Bears claimed the top four spots in the 50 breaststroke, led by Sahota – a sophomore – who won in 31.29. Guo took second with a time of 31.942 while
Abby Liff finished third in 32.33.
First-year
Rin Iimi won the 100 butterfly, swimming to a time of 59.52, followed by Klein in second with a time of 1:00.57. First-year
Avery Dixon finished fourth with a time of 1:02.96.
Leng won the field in the 50 freestyle, racing to a time of 24.97. DiClemente finished third in 25.51 and first-year
Sophia Gossum took fourth with a time of 25.70.
Antonowich – a sophomore – won the 100 freestyle in 54.50, followed by Gossum in second with a time of 55.58. Ibrahim took fourth in 56.37.
Roche claimed the top spot in the 100 backstroke, finished in 59.65. Han was close behind in second with a time of 59.84 and Leng finished fourth in 1:00.76.
Sahota won her second race of the day in the 100 breaststroke, racing to a time of 1:07.97.
Alice Maotook second in 1:10.30 while Guo finished third with a time of 1:10.40.
Iimi then won her second race of the day, claiming the 500 freestyle in 5:11.81. Barrientos finished second with a time of 5:18.35 and senior
Kayleigh Lewis took third in 5:39.43.
Antonowich continued the streak, winning her second race of the day in the 50 butterfly with a time of 27.96. Klein took second in 28.12 and Crumbley finished fourth in 29.26.
In the 100 IM, Iimi won her third race, swimming to a first-place time of 1:00.72. Mao followed in second with a time of 1:02.30.
The Bears closed out the day with the top two spots in the 200 freestyle relay. The team of Uldrich, Barrientos, DeLuca and Iimi won in 1:42.15 while the group of DiClemente, Leng, Lewis and Fonda finished second in 1:42.51.
Diving
Sophomore
Noa Miller won the 1-meter board, racking up 250.00 points. Junior
Rosie Finglass took second in 226.70.
Finglass went on to win the 3-meter with a score of 235.40.
The Bears return to action on Friday with a 5 p.m. meet at home against UMSL.
