Wheaton, Ill. – The Washington University in St. Louis women's soccer team played Wheaton to a 0-0 draw on Friday evening. The Bears are now 3-1-4 on the season.
WashU outshot Wheaton 14-6, splitting its shots evenly with seven in each half.
The Bears opened up the game with two shots on goal within a three minute span, as first-year
Ella Koleno and senior
Riley Alvarez each put a shot on frame which were saved by goalkeeper Lauren Ketchum.
Senior
Maggie Brett put a shot on goal in the 23
rd minute and added another one with 49 seconds left in the first half, both saved by Ketchum.
The Bears started the second half how they ended the first, as Brett tested Ketchum again with a shot on frame less than five minutes in, which was saved.
Junior goalkeeper
Sidney Conner was tested with a shot on goal for the first time in the 83
rd minute, stopping a shot from Mia Blair. She then saved another shot from Sophie Lindquist in the 86
th minute to keep the Thunder off the board.
The Bears had one final offensive push in the final three minutes, as
Jessica Greven got off a shot in the 88
th minute and the team earned a corner kick in the 89
th minute, but WashU was not successful, ending the game in a draw.
WashU has a quick turnaround time, as it travels to Rose-Hulman tomorrow for a 5 p.m. (ET) match. The Bears then have one final non-conference tune up at Webster on Wednesday before beginning UAA play next weekend.
