RESULTS
Geneva, Ohio – The Washington University in St. Louis track & field teams put together several great performances on the final day of competition at the NCAA DIII Outdoor National Championship in Geneva, Ohio.
The women's team collected 38 total team points and earned a tie for third place in the team standings with Johns Hopkins. Loras won the women's team title and Wisconsin-Eau Claire took home the men's championship.
The men's team finished the championships with 15 total team points and placed 20th overall in the field.
WashU had three individual national runner-up performances on Saturday, including two from the women's team as Emma Kelley marked a new PR with a tremendous effort and time of 2:06.69 which is a new school record.
In the triple jump, Alicia Gupte notched the second-best mark ever in school history of 12.42m and earned a national runner-up finish.
On the men's side, senior Jacob Ridderhoff notched a national runner-up finish in the 1500m run (3:47.76) to close out his Bears' career in style.
WU notched three third-place efforts additionally, as Ebun Opata claimed third in the Triple Jump (12.26m) and the women's 4x400 squad (Katherine Dudley, Alicia Gupte, Ava Forman, Emma Kelley) set a new all-time top-10 performance with a time of 3:43.85, which ranks second-best ever in Bears' history.
The women's 4x100 relay team of Mycah Clay, Natalie Swinehart, Lauren Hamilton, and Lauren Gay ran to a time of 46.53 to secure a top-three finish in third.
In addition, three more Bears on the men's squad earned All-American honors on the day, as Gio Alfred posted a fifth-place finish in the 110 Hurdles (14.30), while Will Houser finished in seventh place in the 800m (1:51.43).
Jeff Candell opened up the day for WashU with an 8th place finish in the Steeplechase (9:05.19).
Ava Forman added her second All-American honors of the championships with an 8th place finish in the 400m Hurdles (1:01.52). Forman currently has the fourth best mark ever in school history for the event.
Emily Konkus posted a ninth-place finish in the 1500m (4:32.68), while Zi'Onay Walker tabbed a ninth-place finish in the Triple Jump (11.82m) and Emma Walter ran to a 13th place finish in the 5000m (17:11.37).
In the men's Pole Vault, Tommaso Maiocco placed 14th with a 4.65m mark.
