Pleasantville, N.Y. – The (RV) Washington University in St. Louis softball team fell 4-3 to NYU in extra innings to open the four-game series on Friday afternoon.

The Bears are now 18-7 overall with a 6-3 mark in UAA play.

NYU got on the board first, scoring a run in the bottom of the second inning.

Erin Scott started things up with a lead-off single to left field. Kalena Paredes then laid down a bunt and reached on a throwing error. Both runners then stole a base with Scott scoring to give the Violets a 1-0 edge.

In the bottom of the sixth inning, NYU added two more runs to go up 3-0.

Sophia Leon laid down a bunt to start the inning and moved to second on a Bella Dunning grounder. Leon advanced to third on a Hannah Lee sac fly before Scott drew a walk and stole second to put two runners in scoring position. Both Violets scored as Paredes singled through the right side.

With the game on the line, the Bears scored three runs in the top of the seventh to tie things up 3-3 and force extra innings.

Erin Reardon laid down a bunt to lead off and advanced to second on an Olivia Craycraft single to right field. Katie Gould then but down a bunt, load the bases for the Bears.
