ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The No. 7 Washington University in St. Louis softball team concluded its season in the NCAA Regional Final on Saturday afternoon, falling to No. 14 UW-Oshkosh 2-1. WashU wraps up its season at 30-7-1.
The Bears scored their lone run in the top of the fourth inning. Junior
Kristina Donaldson singled down the left field line and junior
Kennedy Grippo moved her forward with a ground out to first. With two outs, junior
Julia Nicholus singled to center, scoring Donaldson.
The Titans responded in the bottom of the fourth with two runs, which ultimately proved to be the difference in the game.
With one out, Emma Bohn singled to center and Morgan Miller singled to third. Haylie Wittman doubled to left center, scoring both runners for the 2-1 edge.
First-year
Katie Dolin finished 2-for-3 and Donaldson was 1-for-3 with one run scored. Nicholus was also 1-for-3 with one RBI on the day.
Junior
Maria Brooks took the loss in the circle, pitching 3.2 innings of relief with five hits, two runs and two strikeouts. She finishes the year with an 18-2 record.
