LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Washington University in St. Louis junior pitcher
Maria Brooks was named National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) First Team All-America, the organization announced on Wednesday.
This is Brooks' first All-America honor of her career and builds on an accolade-filled year which includes UAA Pitcher of the Year, First Team All-UAA, NFCA First Team All-Region and College Sports Communicators Academic All-District. She was also named UAA Pitcher of the Week four times.
Brooks finished the year with an 18-2 record, remaining undefeated until the final weekend of play. She led the UAA and the Bears with a 1.32 earned-run average (ERA), pitching 13 complete games. Brooks made 22 appearances with 15 starts, pitching a team-high 127.2 innings with 24 earned runs and 128 strikeouts. Additionally, she allowed just 10 extra-base hits and one home run.
This marks the 14
th NFCA All-America honor in program history and the first time with All-Americans in back-to-back seasons in since 2009/2010.
