Box Score St. Louis, Mo. – The No. 21 Washington University in St. Louis women's tennis team defeated Principia 8-1 at Tao Tennis Center on Tuesday evening. The Bears are now 11-6 overall.
In doubles action, Divya Sharma and Ainsley Heidbreder defeated Camila Gomez and Veronica Volkart 8-1 at first doubles. The duo of Hannah Johnston and Aasha Ardila topped Gaby Quintero and Kelsie Huss 8-2 at second doubles while Anke Patel and Carolyn Tsung beat Caroline Carlson and Ruth Hummell 8-0 at third doubles.
Sophia Huynh took down Quintero 6-0, 6-0 at second singles while Hannah Johnston beat Huss 6-1, 6-0 at third singles.
Tsung defeated Volkart 6-0, 6-0 at fourth singles while Patel beat Carlson 6-0, 6-0 at fifth singles. Natalie Muldowney rounded out the singles wins, beating Hummell 6-0, 6-0 at sixth singles.
At first singles, Sharma fell to Gomez. After Sharma won the first set 6-4, Gomez came back to win the second set 7-6 (1) and the third set 11-9.
The Bears have a pair of home matches on Saturday, beginning with Grinnell at 9 a.m. at Dwight Davis followed by UW-Eau Claire at 4 p.m. at Tao Tennis Center.
