Box Score Redlands, Calif. – The No. 21 Washington University in St. Louis women's tennis team dropped its first match of its spring slate on Monday, falling to No. 31 Redlands 7-2.
The Bears fell behind 3-0 following doubles action.
Karen Gao and Ainsley Heidbreder fell to Gabby Rockwood and Kendall Bolock 7-8 (7-2). Katherine Johnston and Divya Sharma lost to Liv Rockwood and Mia Fitzgerald 7-8 (7-4) while Hannah Johnston and Aasha Ardila fell 8-3 to Kiana Brady and Christine O'Brien.
WashU picked up two points in singles play. Sophia Huynh topped Lexi Lehman 6-2, 6-0 at third singles and Katherine Johnston defeated Abby Nash 6-2, 6-0 at sixth singles.
Gao fell to Lia Rockwood 6-2, 6-2 at first singles and Sharma lost to Brady 6-2, 6-1 at second singles. Heidbreder was topped by Bolock 6-2, 6-2 at fourth singles and Hannah Johnston lost to Fitzgerald 6-4, 1-6, 10-6 at fifth singles.
The Bears return to action tomorrow with a match against Chapman at 1 p.m. PT.
