Atlanta, Ga. – The Washington University in St. Louis women's soccer team fell to Emory, 3-0, in the UAA opener on Saturday afternoon.
The Bears are now 4-2-5 overall with a 0-1 mark in conference play.
Emory immediately started peppering WashU junior goalkeeper
Sidney Conner, forcing her to make four saves and totaling 11 shots overall in the first half.
The Eagles finally broke through with just under three minutes left in the first half as Grace Reyer scored on a pass from Natalie Klar to take a 1-0 lead heading into the second half.
Less than five minutes into the second half, Emory scored again. This time, Kylie Hall scored on passes from Samantha Lim and Mara Rodriguez.
The final goal of the game was scored in the 66
th minute when Aubrey Blanchard scored off a corner kick on a pass from Hall.
The Bears registered just two shots in the game – both in the second half – and one shot on goal. In total, Emory recorded 16 shots with eight on goal and seven corner kicks.
WashU will look to bounce back Sunday, October 9 with a UAA home match against Rochester at 1:30 p.m.
