St. Louis, Mo., April 9, 2021 – The Washington University in St. Louis men's tennis team swept Principia 9-0 Friday afternoon at the Tao Tennis Center for the Bears' sixth-consecutive win.
WashU improved to 6-1 while Principia fell to 7-3 on the season.
WashU won all three doubles matches by 8-2 margins, with wins by senior Ethan Hillis and grad student Scott Altmeyer at No. 1, seniors Daniel Li and Benjamin van der Sman at No. 2 and first years Jeremy Ouyang and Gaurav Singh at No 3.
Hillis won 6-0, 6-2 at No. 1 singles while Altmeyer picked up a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 2 with both players improving to 7-0 in singles play for the season. Van der Sman won 6-0, 6-2 at No. 3, Li won 6-2, 6-0 at No. 4, Singh won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 5 and junior Sam Komis won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6 to round out singles play.
WashU is back in action with a road matchup Tuesday, April 12, at Missouri-St. Louis in what is a makeup match for Thursday's rainout.
