St. Louis, Mo., April 17, 2021 – The Washington University in St. Louis men's tennis team celebrated Senior Day with a 9-0 win over Principia Saturday at the Dwight Davis Tennis Center.
The Bears won their eighth-consecutive match to improve to 8-1 overall while Principia dipped to 9-4.
WashU celebrated seniors Ethan Hillis, Benjamin van der Sman, Gabe Owens and Mark Wu as well as graduate assistant coach Ricardo del Olmo Parrado.
WashU picked up doubles wins from graduate student Scott Altmeyer and Abhi Ramireddy (8-4) at No. 1, van der Sman and senior Daniel Li (8-1) at No. 2, and Hillis and first year Gaurav Singh (8-1) at No. 3.
Hillis won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1 singles while Altmeyer won 6-0, 6-4 at No. 2, van der Sman won 6-1, 6-3 at No. 3, Li won 6-0 6-3 at No. 4, Singh won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5 and junior Sam Komis won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 6.
WashU closes out its regular season with a 2 p.m. matchup against Wisconsin-Whitewater on Saturday, April 24 in Bettendorf, Iowa.
