St. Louis, Mo., April 13, 2021 – The Washington University in St. Louis men's tennis team picked up a 5-2 road win over Missouri-St. Louis Tuesday evening at the UMSL Tennis Courts for the team's seventh-consecutive win.
The Bears (7-1) took two out of three to claim the doubles point while picking up four out of the five singles matchups against the Division II Tritons (3-4).
Seniors Daniel Li and Benjamin van der Sman picked up an 6-2 win at No. 2 doubles while senior Ethan Hillis and first year Gaurav Singh won 6-3 at No. 3. Rounding out doubles play, graduate student Scott Altmeyer and first year Jeremy Ouyang suffered a 6-4 loss in the first flight.
WashU won the first four flights in singles play with Hillis winning 6-0, 7-6 at No. 1, Altmeyer winning 6-0, 6-2 at No. 2, van der Sman winning 6-4, 6-1 at No. 3 and Li winning 6-4, 6-2 at No. 4. Singh suffered a 6-2, 7-5 setback at No. 5 while Ouyang fell 6-4, 7-5 at No. 6.
The Bears are back in action with another home matchup against Principia on Saturday, April 16 at the Dwight Davis Tennis Center.
