Box Score St. Louis, Mo., March 20, 2021 – The Washington University in St. Louis women's tennis team picked up a 7-2 win over DePauw Saturday at the Dwight Davis Tennis Center.
The Bears (2-1) dropped just one doubles match and one singles match in a solid team victory over the visiting Tigers (1-5).
Senior Laurel Wanger and junior Divya Sharma picked up an 8-0 win for WashU at No. 2 doubles while senior Emma Sass and junior Hannah Johnston won 8-2 at No. 3 doubles. Senior Ally Persky and first year Katherine Johnston suffered a close 8-7 loss at No. 1 doubles.
Persky rebounded from her doubles setback by gutting out a three-set win at No. 1 singles, 6-7, 6-0, 10-4. Wanger won 7-5, 6-4 at No. 3 singles while Hannah Johnston won 6-3, 6-1 at No. 4, Sophia Huynh won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 5 and Anke Patel won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 6.
WashU's next match will again be against the Tigers as the Bears travel to DePauw on Sunday, March 28 for a 2:30 p.m. match.
