St. Louis, Mo., March 20, 2021 – The Washington University in St. Louis men's tennis team picked up its first win of the season with a convincing 9-0 victory over DePauw Saturday at the Dwight Davis Tennis Center.
The Bears (1-1) didn't drop a set and gave up very few games on a strong outing against the Tigers (0-2).
Graduate student Scott Altmeyer and sophomore Abhi Ramireddy picked up an 8-2 win at No. 1 doubles while seniors Benjamin van der Sman and Daniel Li won 8-1 at No. 2 and senior Ethan Hillis and first year Jeremy Ouyang won 8-2 at No. 3.
WashU also swept singles play with Hillis winning 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1, Atlmeyer winning 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2, van der Sman winning 6-1, 6-1 at No. 3, Li winning 6-1, 6-4 at No. 4, Ramireddy winning 6-0, 6-2 at No. 5 and Ouyang winning 6-2, 6-1 at No. 6.
The Bears will be back in action Monday, March 22 with a 4 p.m. match against Maryville at the Tao Tennis Center. No spectators are allowed at the match per University policy on visitors to campus.
