No. 9 WashU Drops Final Match on Spring Break

Claremont, Calif., March 15, 2018 – The No. 9-ranked Washington University in St. Louis men's tennis team closed out its 2018 Spring Break with a 6-3 loss to No. 6 Amherst College Thursday in Claremont, Calif.

Amherst remained undefeated at 4-0 with the win, while WashU dropped to 6-5. The Bears split six matches on Spring Break, with all three losses coming to teams ranked in top-12.

Sophomore Bernardo Neves picked up a pair of wins to increase his team-leading record to 31-8. Neves recorded a three-set victory at No. 2 singles to increase his winning streak to 11 matches.

• WashU trailed after doubles play for just the third time this season
• Neves is undefeated this season in singles in dual matches (11-0)
• The singles victory for Neves was the 40th of his career.

• Amherst is the 2011 and 2014 NCAA Division III National Champions
