Auburndale, Fla., March 12, 2018 – The Washington University in St. Louis baseball team's offense produced a season-high 18 hits in route to its second win over a top-25 ranked opponent defeating No. 11 Oswego 15-2 Monday afternoon during its spring break trip in Florida.

WashU improved its record to 6-4 on the season, while Oswego fell to 4-3. The Bears are 2-1 during the five-game road trip in Florida including two wins over teams listed in the D3baseball.com and the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) national polls. The WashU offense backed freshman starting pitcher Ryan Loutos' seven innings, one earned run and 10 strikeout performance.

Six Bears finished with multi-hit days led by sophomore Brian Schutter's 4-for-6 at the plate while sophomore John Brinkman finished with a pair of doubles and a team-leading five RBIs. Senior Auggie Mense, junior Evan Nagel and sophomores John Ostrander and Thomas Gardner also tallied a couple of hits apiece.

WashU scored two runs in the second inning on three hits, a hit by pitch and an error. Freshman Mitchell Black and sophomore AJ Dunham scored for the Bears, as Schutter collected one of his three RBIs on a single that scored Dunham.

Brinkman had a bases clearing double in the fourth inning with two-outs to help WashU take a 5-0 lead. He scored on a double by Gardner to make it a six-run advantage before Oswego was able to escape the inning.

WashU added three runs in the fifth, one in the seventh and eighth and four more in the ninth inning. The Lakers scored their first run of the game during the sixth. After Loutos retired the first two batters, Eli Holton doubled and pinch-hitter Myles Kutscher singled him in.

Loutos struck out the next batter and worked a scoreless seventh before exiting the game. Freshman Tim Tague threw two innings, allowing one earned run while striking out four batters to close out the action. Loutos and Tague combined to strikeout 14 batters as WashU has now recorded double figure strikeout totals in four contests.
