WashU Track & Field Shines at I-55 Tri-Meet

Bloomington, Ill., Jan. 20, 2018 – The Washington University in St. Louis track & field teams competed at the I-55 Tri-Meet, with University of Chicago and host Illinois Wesleyan University, as the WashU men placed first and the women captured second at the Shirk Center.

The WashU men finished with a group leading 86 points while Chicago totaled 76 and Illinois Wesleyan scored 53. Chicago claimed the women's champion status with 85.5 points to slightly edge WashU's 81.5 and Illinois Wesleyan's 49.

Senior Annalise Wagner highlighted Saturday's events with a first place finish in the 800m run with a Division III leading time of 2:15.80 (converts to 2:14.26). Wagner also helped the Bears to a first place finish in the 4x400m relay (4:04.38) with freshman Sophie Grigaux, sophomore Nicky Althoff and sophomore Anna Cossio.

Freshman Elise Chao placed first in the meet with the second best Division III mark in the triple jump, clearing a distance of 11.43m. Freshman Julia Dannenbaum reached 3.65m to capture first place in the pole vault and ranks fifth in the nation.

Altogether the Bears men totaled seven first place finishes including sophomore Brandon Hutchison's 4.40m height in the pole vault. Sophomore Collis McKenzie also placed first for the second week in a row in the high jump with a personal-best 1.93m leap.

The WashU men's relay team of junior Eddie Wintergalen, junior Jason Singer, freshman John Harry Wagner and sophomore Jon Fleming scored a first place time of 3:30.50.
