No. 6 WashU Men's Tennis to Play for UAA Championship

Altamonte Springs, Fla., April 22, 2017 – The No. 6-ranked Washington University in St. Louis men's tennis team will have a chance to play for the 2017 University Athletic Association (UAA) Championship following a 6-3 win over No. 5 University of Chicago in the semifinals Saturday in Altamonte Spring, Fla.

WashU, the No. 2 seed, won its 11th-straight match to improve its record to 15-3, 2-0 in the UAA, while Chicago, the No. 3 seed, fell to 16-4, 1-1 in the UAA. The Bears won two of three meetings between the two teams this year.

The Bears jumped out to a commanding lead, sweeping doubles for the sixth time this year. Freshman Bernardo Neves clinched the match at No. 3 singles with a 6-3, 4-6, 6-0 win over No. 41-ranked Charlie Pei.
