Singles Sweep Leads No. 9 Bears Past No. 39 Gustavus Adolphus

Madison, Wis., April 1, 2016 – The No. 9-ranked Washington University in St. Louis women's tennis team won all six singles matches in straight sets to defeat No. 39 Gustavus Adolphus College 7-2 in the quarterfinal round of the Midwest Invitational Friday.

• It was the fourth time this season and third match in a row that WashU has swept singles.
• It was the Bears' first win this season when they had trailed after doubles.
• It was WashU's sixth win over a ranked team this season.
• Junior Rebecca Ho won her 114th career match, moving into a tie with Elizabeth Kelsey (1988-92) and Theresa Petraskova (2011-14) for 14th on WashU's all-time wins list.

WashU improved to 9-5 with the win, while Gustavus Adolphus dropped to 11-5. The Bears will face No. 26 University of Wisconsin-Whitewater in the Midwest Invite semifinal at 7:30 a.m. Saturday. WashU will then play in either the championship or the third-place match at 1:30 p.m.
