No. 13 Women's Tennis Drops Match Against No. 2 Emory 6-3

Sewanee, Tenn., Feb. 13, 2016 – Sophomore Grace Deering won at both doubles and singles, but the No. 13-ranked Washington University in St. Louis women's tennis team came up short against No. 2 Emory University 6-3 Saturday afternoon.

Deering and senior Jamie Silverberg teamed up for a huge win at No. 1 doubles, knocking off the second-ranked doubles team in NCAA Division III 8-5. Deering then posted a straight-set win at No. 3 singles for the Bears, and sophomore Kate Lee won a super tiebreaker at No. 6 singles for WashU's third point. Junior Kaylan Griffith nearly made it a 5-4 match, but came up short in her super tiebreaker at No. 5 singles.

• The win at No. 1 doubles gave Silverberg her 116th career victory, moving her into a tie for 10th on WashU's all-time career wins list with Gloria Abramson (1994-98).
• Lee improved to 6-1 at singles this year, while Deering is 3-1 at singles and 7-1 at doubles this season.
