After the scoreless first two innings, WashU got things going with a two-out rally in the third. Sophomore Kenzie James and White each had a two-out single, and then sophomore Hannah Mehrle drove in the first run with an infield single scoring James.

With Pitkin in control on the mound, the Bears added two more runs in the top of the fifth. James walked and stole second to start the inning, and then White homered to left center to make it 3-0. The homerun was White's first of the season and seventh of her career. In the seventh, WashU tacked on two more runs after RBI singles by Mehrle and sophomore Janet Taylor

White was 3-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored, while Mehrle went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and a run scored. The Bears had nine hits in the game one victory.

Washington U. 1, #23 DePauw 0
Clapp (1-0) did not allow a runner past second base and struck out one en route to her first college win in game two. Each team managed just three hits in game two, but it was Washington U. who scored the only run of the game in the top of the third inning.

Junior Brooke Hofer led off inning with a walk, and then moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by senior Alyssa Wilson. Hofer went to third on a wild pitch, and then came around to score the eventual game-winning run after pulling off a double steal with senior Paige Biles.

Hofer, Taylor and White each had hits for Washington U. in the win. White's double in the first inning was the lone extra base hit for either team.

Washington U. (6-2) returns to action with a pair of games Sunday, March 8, against Adrian College at 9 a.m. (ET) and Agnes Scott at 11 a.m. The games will be played on the campus of Agnes Scott.

Bear Notebook: Leticia Pineda-Boutté recorded career win No. 310 vs. DePauw … White upper her career RBI total to 90, one shy of tying Sondra Polonsky (2010-13) for 10th place … James had a steal in game one to move into a tie for sixth place all-time with Laura D'Andrea (2005-08) with 33 … Taylor has hit safely in all eight games, while White has a four-game hit streak.
