Jack Mathis

Jack Mathis was named the program's assistant coach on June 27, 2024.
 
Mathis joined WashU after serving as the head coach for U15 MLS and the college liaison for the Barcelona Residential Academy from March 2023 to May 2024. In this role, he developed, organized and ran training sessions, handled video analysis, worked directly with multiple invitees to U.S. youth national teams and traveled with players throughout Spain. Prior to that, Mathis served as the head coach for the U19 Pre-Academy team and the assistant coach for the U15 MLS team.
 
From June 2017 to June 2021 Mathis was an assistant coach at Division I Northern Illinois University. During his time there, he mentored the 2018 MAC Freshman Offensive Player of the Year, five first team All-MAC honorees and one second team selection, one Academic All-American, the 2021 MAC Freshman of the Year and 2021 MAC Player of the Year. Additionally, in 2018, the program recorded the most wins in seven years and the Huskies had the first-ever NIU graduate drafted to the MLS.
 
From June 2017 to June 2021, Mathis was the Assistant Director of Coaching and Player Development for the Northern Illinois Football Club and also served as a club coach.
 
Mathis gained his first Division III coaching experience as a graduate assistant under Boredelon's mentorship at Stevenson University from August 2016 to May 2017 where he focused on recruiting, player development and training sessions.
 
Mathis also served as an assistant coach for PDL STLFC U23 and as a club training and camp coach for Saint Louis Scott Gallagher.
 
An accomplished player in his own right, Mathis played collegiately at Division II Drury University. He was a four-time All-GLVC selection and a three-time All-NSCAA (now United Soccer Coaches) Midwest Regional honoree.
 
He went on to play professionally for Saint Louis FC of the United Soccer League in 2015.
 
Mathis holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from Drury University and a Master of Science in business and technology management from Stevenson University.
