Dan Holak begins his fourth season as an assistant football coach at Washington University in St. Louis, and will coach the defensive line.
This past season WashU finished with a 7-3 overall record in the program's second season as an associate member in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW). The Bears tied for third place in the CCIW with a 6-3 mark. WashU led the league in turnover margin (+1.1) and was third in scoring defense (19.5).
In Holak's first season, WashU posted an 8-2 overall record in the program's first season as an associate member in the CCIW. The Bears finished in third place in the CCIW with a 7-2 mark. WashU upset then No. 12-ranked Wheaton College (Ill.) 17-10 on Oct. 13 for its first victory over a ranked opponent since 2010. The Bears were third in the conference in scoring defense (22.0) and fourth in rushing defense (117.4), and helped mentor sophomore Peter Pigatti who led the league with 11 sacks.
Holak arrived on the Danforth Campus after spending the past six years as an assistant coach and defensive coordinator at Oakville High School in St. Louis where he coached a number of all-conference players.
He graduated from Canton (IL) High School in 1996 where he was a Peoria All-Area and All-State running back. Holak played football at Millikin University and Eureka College, and received a bachelor's degree in sociology from Western Illinois University in 2001. He spent time at WIU as an IRFU Illinois Select Side Rugby player.
Holak has been a real estate professional for 18 years and owns DNA Development, LLC and is a partner in KHDH Properties, LLC which are real estate investment and development companies in St. Louis. He is in his eighth year as a Real Estate Broker for Gillian Properties.
