INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The No. 14 Washington had two top-five finishes on Wednesday in the first day of the NCAA Championships. The Bears have 32 points and sit in 9
th place.
Top Finishers
- 500 Freestyle
- First-year Parker Chan claimed second place with a time of 4:23.33, earning his first-career All-America honor
- 200 IM
- Junior Marco Minai finished fourth, swimming a time of 1:46.18, setting a new program record
- Originally set a new program record in the prelims (1:46.33)
- 50 Freestyle
- First-year Jackson Heether finished 32nd in the prelims with a time of 20.38
- 400 Medley Relay
- Chan, grad student Mikey Thurk, Minai and Heether finished 21st in the prelims with a time of 3:20.30
The Bears continue to competition tomorrow with the 200 freestyle, 100 butterfly, 400 IM and 200 freestyle relay.
