WALTHAM, Mass. – UAA CHAMPIONS! The No. 3 Washington University in St. Louis women's indoor track & field team claimed the 2026 UAA Indoor Championship on Sunday, their seventh in a row, with a dominating performance.
The Bears scored 186.5 points, far outdistancing runner-up Chicago's 129.5 points. Emory (110.25 points), Brandeis (57.25 points), and Carnegie Mellon (51 points) rounded out the top five team finishes. Case Western Reserve (50.25 points) and NYU (35.25 points) completed the field.
Several WashU team members claimed UAA titles on Sunday as part of the team championship. Senior
Jenae Bothe claimed the shot put title with her throw of 14.77m. The 4x400 team of sophomore
Quinn Bird, senior
Kylie Spytek, junior
Caroline Echols, and junior
Cate Christopher claimed their event win with a time of 3:52.91.
Sophomore
Lucinda Laughlin was an individual UAA champion in the 3000m with a time of 9:38.76. Junior
Julia Coric claimed the UAA title in the 200m with her time of 25.21. Echols won an individual title in the 800m in a time of 2:14.97. You could call her the fastest in the UAA, as senior
Jasmine Wright claimed the 60m title with a time of 7.65.
Other top finishes include:
- High Jump
- Junior Olivia Theisen finished in a tie for fourth with a clearance of 1.59m, scoring 4.5 points.
- Triple Jump
- Mile
- WashU went second through fourth in the event with senior Jillian Heth finishing runner-up with a time of 4:53.93.
- Sophomore Sofia Sheldon was third with a time of 4:57.62, and senior Katie Rector was fourth with a time of 4:58.10.
- 400m
- Spytek was runner-up with a time of 57.16, and Bird was third with a time of 57.43
- Christopher was sixth with a time of 58.16.
- 60m
- The Bears went 1, 2, 3 in the event.
- In addition to Wright, junior Maya Davis was runner-up with a time of 7.78, and Coric was third with a time of 7.80.
- 800m
- It was another 1-3 event for WashU.
- In addition to Echols' win, first-year Kate Delia was runner-up with a time of 2:15.82.
- Senior Cate Stevens finished in third place with a time of 2:15.97.
- 200m
- Besides Coric's event title, Spytek finished in sixth place with a time of 25.83.
For their efforts across the two days, several team members secured All-UAA honors with their top-three finishes in both individual and relay events. Below is the list of the honorees:
WashU will be back in action next weekend at the NCAA Qualifier hosted by Wartburg with one more chance to earn a spot at the 2026 NCAA Indoor National Championship Meet (Mar. 13-14).
