No. 3 WashU Women's Indoor Track & Field Leads UAA Indoor Championships After Day 1

WALTHAM, Mass. – The No. 3 Washington University in St. Louis women's indoor track and field team is in first place following Day 1 of the 2026 UAA Indoor Championships being hosted by Brandeis.

WashU (50 points) currently leads No. 36 Chicago by just one point (49 points). Emory (32 points), Carnegie Mellon (24 points), and Brandeis (19 points) round out the top five through five of the 16 events.

The Bears saw two event wins on the first day with senior Mackenzie Walker claiming the UAA title in the pole vault with her clear of 4.01m, setting the new top-4 mark in Div. III this season.

Also, the Distance Medley Relay team of sophomore Lauren Raley, sophomore Ellie Cain, first-year Kate Delia, and sophomore Lucinda Laughlin not only won the event with a time of 11:36.17 but also set a new UAA record while recording the second fastest time in the DMR this season in Div. III.

Other top finishes:
  • Weight Throw
    • Seniors Jenae Bothe and Kally Mack finished fourth and fifth adding nine points to the team total with their throws of 14.58m and 14.51m, respectively
  • Long Jump
    • Junior Olivia Theisen finished seventh to add two points with her leap of 5.28m
  • Pole Vault
    • In addition to Walker, first-year Campbell Pallera finished runner-up with her clear of 3.76m, adding eight team points
    • Junior Meredyth Barr scored three points with her sixth place finish with a clear of 3.46m
  • 5000m
    • First-year Leah Sekulich and sophomore Sally Carrington scored five and three points, respectively with their fourth and sixth place finishes
    • Sekulich finished in 17:34.24 while Carrington cross the finish line in 17:41.79
 
WashU will look to solidify its seventh-straight UAA Indoor title after Day 2 on Sunday, Mar. 1.
