CHICAGO, Ill. – The No. 15 Washington University in St. Louis women's swimming and diving team began the Midwest Invitational on Friday evening. The two-day competition is hosted by the University of Chicago.
 
Top Finishers:

• 200 Freestyle Relay
  • Sophomore Anya Rao, first-year Annabel Hermacinski, senior Caroline DeLuca and first-year Anisa Basler swam to a time of 1:40.24
     
• 500 Freestyle
  • Sophomore Holly Gmelich finished second with a time of 5:10.37
  • Junior Nicole Caruso took third in 5:13.76
  • Rao finished fifth with a time of 5:25.52
     
• 200 IM
  • First-year Julia Pintescu took fifth in 2:10.85
  • Hermacinski finished sixth with a time of 2:15.67
     
• 50 Freestyle
  • First-year Elizabeth Oyler took ninth with a time of 25.12
  • Basler finished 10^th in 25.18
  • DeLuca took 11^th in 25.36
     
• 400 Medley Relay
  • Oyler, Pintescu, Gmelich and Caruso finished with a time of 4:04.69
     

The Bears wrap up competition tomorrow with sessions at 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
