Regan Cannon Wins Elite Scholar-Athlete Award For Second-Straight Year

SALEM, Va. – For the second year in a row, Washington University in St. Louis women's soccer junior Regan Cannon earned the Elite Scholar-Athlete Award for women's soccer, the NCAA announced Wednesday evening at the Division III Final Four banquet.

She is the 20th person in WashU history to receive this honor and just the third in department history to earn it in back-to-back years. Last year, Cannon was the first-ever to receive it for the women's soccer program. Additionally, she is only the second person in NCAA Division III women's soccer history to earn the award twice since it began in 2009.

Cannon holds a 4.0 and is majoring in anthropology on the pre-med track. Prior to a season-ending injury, Cannon played in 17 games with 16 starts, tallying 952 minutes and playing a crucial part in the Bears' defense.

The NCAA Elite Scholar-Athlete award honors the exceptional achievements of student-athletes. This prestigious accolade is given to those who have not only excelled at a national championship level in their sport but have also achieved the highest academic standards among their peers. The Elite Scholar-Athlete is proudly awarded to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative GPA at the finals site for each of the NCAA's championships.
