Bear Beats: Episode 15, For Competition Through Nov. 30

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The Bear Beats is a weekly release that will be posted on Mondays to provide a look back at the past week of action and to preview the events for the upcoming week. The 15th episode for the 2025-26 year will feature women's soccer, men's and women's swimming and diving, and men's and women's basketball

On the horizon:
 
No. 1 Women's Soccer
  • WashU will travel to the Final Four for the third straight season this weekend in Salem, Va.
  • The Bears take on a familiar foe in the national semifinals as the University of Chicago will be one of the three UAA teams to travel to Kerr Stadium.
  • When the two teams met in the regular season finale, the contest ended in a 1-1 draw.
  • WashU will take on the No. 7 Maroons on Thursday, Dec. 4 at 3 p.m. ET

  • The winner will advanced to the national championship to take on the winner of the No. 2 Emory vs. No. 3 Tufts matchup on Saturday, Dec. 6 at 12 p.m. ET
No. 5 Men's Basketball
  • After winning both games on back-to-back days hosting the All-Academic Classic, WashU will have a week before hosting cross-town opponent Webster on Saturday, Dec. 6.
  • Game time with the Gorloks is scheduled for 3 p.m.
  • The Bears have won the past four matchups, including a 92-66 win last season in Webster Groves.

No. 6 Men's & No. 12 Women's Swimming and Diving
  • WashU will send its divers only this week to the 2025 Grinnell Diving Invitational in Grinnell, Iowa on Saturday, Dec. 6 and Sunday, Dec 7.
  • Saturday will get underway at 10 a.m. with Sunday's start time scheduled for 9 a.m.

Men's and Women's Indoor Track & Field
  • WashU will open its 2025-26 season this Saturday at the Scott Fangman Invitational on Saturday, Dec. 6 hosted by the University of Indianapolis at the UIndy ARC.
  • The pole vault along with the weight throw and shot put kicks off the field action at 12 p.m. (women with men to follow in each).
  • The 60m hurdles prelims starts the track events at 1 p.m.
